This past weekend concluded the 2018 season for the Highland Park Scots baseball team. They lost by a score of 12-2 on Saturday to the Hallsville Bobcats putting them at 2-1 in the series giving them the win. Although their season ended in the first round there were plenty of highpoints. One of those highpoints was beating the Forney Jackrabbits by a score of 2-1 against Texas A&M commit and MLB draft hopeful. There most valiant victory came on Friday Night against the Hallsville Bobcats where their backs were up against the wall facing elimination they gave up 3 runs in the first inning and were down 4-1 in the bottom of the 4th. Then Aaron Plotkin pinch hit and hit a mammoth home run over the net in left field hitting off the indoor facility. Their deficit was back to 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth where they managed to score 3 runs and take back the lead with a steal of home from Jack Kemendo. In the 7th they brought in TJ Spackman who closed it out striking out the first batter and then popping up the next two. All in all the Scots had a successful season and look towards next year with high hopes as they are returning 8 players with significant playing time.
